Different Viewpoints on Six Sigma

Ever since the inception of Six Sigma in to the global world in 1990, it has been the buzz word for both the service and the manufacturing industry. More than a decade has passed and now most of the people are quite skeptical about the future of the same. They are quite unsure how it is going to perform in the years to come as according to experts there are some loop holes in the total system.

Though, many have successfully lifted the reputation of their company by reducing the defects in the system with the help of Six Sigma, the debate raised against the efficiency of the Six Sigma in every aspect of the business management process fails to die down.

If you go by management experts, Six Sigma is flawed inherently and does not check for the flaws that can be present in the total system itself. They believe that the statistical and the analytical tools used in the Six Sigma only takes into account the executional flaws and do not expose the process that are puzzled with defects.

However, those who support the efficacy of Six Sigma have a different say on this. They believe that Six Sigma and management tools like TQM or Total Quality Management, except their labels, are conceptually quite similar. Business houses are free to use any of the said tools for improving their overall quality. But, they prefer Six Sigma over other management tools as it is more than a process enhancing program and focuses on continuous improvement of the quality.

They feel that the best part of the Six Sigma Certification is that it blends tools for statistical measurement with modern management techniques. When these two parameters combine, you are sure to get an extraordinary result. But, the fate of this amazing program cannot be foretold. So, we need to wait and watch.
